Beijing, Dec. 10, 2010: The ceremony of CAS Einstein Professorship to Prof. Chad Mirkin, professor of Northwestern University, was held in the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICCAS). After the ceremony Prof. Mirkin delivered the lecture of The Polyvalent Oligonucleotide Nanoparticle Conjugate: A New Frontier in Materials Synthesis, In Vitro Diagnostics, and Intracellular Gene Regulation.
Professor Mirkin is a chemist and a world renowned nanoscience expert, who is known for his development of nanoparticle-based biodetection schemes, the invention of Dip-Pen Nanolithography, and contributions to supramolecular chemistry, nanoelectronics, and nanooptics. He is the author of over 430 manuscripts and over 370 patents and applications, and the founder of three companies. He has been recognized for his accomplishments with over 60 national and international awards, and he has served on the Editorial Advisory Boards of over twenty scholarly journals.
