Elected as CAS Academician in 1980.

Deputy Director of ICCAS.

Chemist. Born in Yangzhou , Jiangsu Province. Graduated from the Department of Chemistry, Northeastern University. Went to the UK in 1933 and received Ph.D. from the Imperial College of the University of London in 1935. Research professor and deputy director, Institute of Chemistry , Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Wang set up the Department of Polymer Chemistry and Physics in the University of Science and Technology of China in 1959. He was one of the chemists in China who first conducted polymer chemistry research. He studied polymethyl methacrylate and polycaprolactam in the 1950s. He also studied silicone chemistry and did a lot in the synthesis of silicon-carbon-silicon-oxygen type of polymers. He was interested in heterocyclic heat-resistant polymers and did some creative work. In the 1970s, he pointed out the importance of strengthening research on polymers which were used in large quantities, such as polypropylene. He also did a lot of research on hydrocarbon chemistry.

He was elected Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1980.
