Nanoemulsions induced by compressed gases

Date: 12-26-2008   source: hanbuxing   Print

Nanoemulsions have attracted much attention in recent years due to their small droplet size and better stability. Recently, the researchers of the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences demonstrated that compressed gases can induce formation of water/oil/surfactant nanoemulsions. Systematic study showed that various gases (CO2, ethylene, ethane, propane) can be used to induce formation of nanoemulsions consisting of different kinds of surfactants and different oils, and therefore this new method is general. Some of the results were published in Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. (2008, 47, 3012-3015).
